Tulane Rowing Prepares for its 30th(!) Spring Season

A month into the new academic year and what may be the largest squad ever—and certainly since Katrina—is working extremely hard for the 2013-14 racing season.

Three eights of experienced men and nearly two of women make for a very healthy start, and the varsities have spent most of their water time this fall in sculling boats instead of eights and fours.  Three quads and a couple of doubles are allowing the experienced crowd to polish up technically, while most of the hard work is coming in the ergometer room.

The squad travels to Chattanooga for an Oct 12 head race with 25-30 schools expected.  On the 19th a men’s four has self-organized an entry into the Head of the Charles in Boston, and on the 26th of October everyone will travel to Oak Ridge TN for the final head race of the fall.

The fall season ends on Nov 2 at home, with the traditional State Championship Regatta from 10am-2pm.
